The Impact Gaming Community (IGC) is a group of skilled gamers who have gathered together under a single banner to rock the MMORPG world.
Impact Gaming has been years in the making but only recently blossomed into a true gaming community. Grey, and a number of people with whom he has played MMORPGs, gathered to form Neutral Impact in July 2010. Within just a few months, and with rising interest in other MMOGs, Grey decided to expand one 30-man linkshell into a gaming community. That was the end of October 2010, and by the new year, we had over 50 members and a brand new chapter for Rift: Planes of Telara.
We primarily play MMORPGs, but there are other games that we sometimes play as a community. There are players at IGC who participate in games like League of Legends, Minecraft, Starcraft II, and other games. We may these games competitively as individuals, but they are not directly hosted by IGC.
If you can name it, at least a handful of players here have played it. Most notably our members have played World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, and Aion.
Impact Gaming currently hosts two guilds; Neutral Impact (FFXIV) and Radiant Impact (SW:TOR, Republic). While these are what we consider "major" guild, there are also some minor guilds that pop up sometimes to play other games for a few weeks or months. We are always expanding so this list gets updated weekly. Check back with us frequently to see if we're on the lookout for a mmo you are looking forward to! There is a very good chance we will have a start-up chapter for it.
Our guilds primarily focus on PvE at this time, however as we add more games, the whims of the GM and playerbase for those titles will determine what the focus of the new guild will be. You can see additional information per guild by visiting their 'About' link in the main menu.
Absolutely! Impact Gaming has a "Watch List" on the left side of the frontpage which shows which titles we are looking to expand. You can check out what we are looking to expand into over the next 6-12 months by checking out those articles!
To become a member of the community you need to be accepted into one of our guilds. Check out the recruitment section in the main menu to send in an application! Remember, each guild has unique recruitment angles and policies, but they are generally similar.
We've also added a new way to become a community member! For full access to our community, with the exception of a few member-specific things such as voting on new guild recruits, all you need is a reference! If you know someone in an IGC guild, simply have that person drop the community manager a private message on the boards and you'll be given access after the request is reviewed!
End Gamers are those players considering being core members of a guild. They are expected to be ale to meet the raid schedule, vote on applications, and be active in the guild. Friends & Family applicants are those players who are, you guessed it, a friend or family member of a current guild member. F&F players not held to the same expectations as End Gamers and as such cannot view or vote on applicants nor do they accrue DKP. They are generally casual members and can come and go as they wish.
Community members get access to a plethora of goodies. You will have access to the forums, where the vast majority of our discussion happens. There you will be able to vote on guildmates for your particular chapter, but will always be able to see who is coming into the community among any guild at IGC. Members also get access to our 250-person TeamSpeak, which is live 24/7 and always has members chatting on it. Part of your membership also includes full access to upload all types of meda to our Gallery section to share with the community. Members interested in writing articles for the frontpage or their chapter can request Author status as well. Of course, you also get access to every other member in the community, which is by far the greatest resource we offer!
Note: We here at IGC believe everything should be free to members so there will never be anything silly like a membership fee. Your fee is whatever you pay to play the game on your own (like subscription fee!). We're not a business! Just a group of guys and gals looking to have a good fun on the internetz!
TeamSpeak is required for events within any of our guilds. The amount of TeamSpeak time required outside of events varies by guildmaster, but generally you don't need to be on TeamSpeak unless there is something big going down. English is our community's primary language.
