At our recent community meeting new goals for Neutral Impact were announced. I have decided to look at the linkshell in chunks of three months. This helps members track our goal progress within a realistic timeframe, and also gives SquareEnix a chance to play catch-up with today's MMOG environment. In the future, we may accelerate our schedule, but for the time being, the leadership feels this is the best way to compartmentalize our progress and see what is happening within the linkshell as a whole.
Going forward, the following goals have been set forth by the GM of Neutral Impact:
All members are expected to have at least one Rank 50 class by March 30, 2011. The class can be within any category, and Disciples of War, Magic, and Hand are preferable. Members that are not at least Rank 30 currently should seriously consider their position within our linkshell.
Neutral Impact will increase aggressive on the Recruitment front. We are looking to bring in Disciples of Hand and Land now more than ever. We have the numbers to fill out our battle classes (although Gladiators are high priority right now), and so we feel we can begin to focus a bit more on non-battle-related classes.
That said, we are increasing our soft cap to 40 members. This is currently set at 35 so this is not a big change, however we are open to accepting up to 50 members to cover future raiding times. The goal right in front of us is to bring our 33 member roster up to 40 within the next 2-3 months.
Recruitment is now only accepting applicants level 30 or above. The primary reason for this is to gauge interest in players achieving that rank for end game. There are linkshells popping up all the time, even end game ones, and we feel that now is the time to be a cut above the rest. This rank requirement will increase as the average level of the linkshell also increases (possibly at a rate of +5 ranks every 30 days from now until March).
Development of a DKP system prior to March 1, 2011. This will mark the re-opening of our DKP discussion, but a great system is also already in the works by our GM.
End Game related: As soon as Neutral Impact has 10 members Rank 46+, we will begin to utilize our DKP system and participate in end game. This means all current NM fights in the game at this time. We are actually very close to that number and should be starting all that in a short time (way earlier than March).
There are several other minor goals as well, but these are the important ones we feel everyone should be aware of (even you, the reader who is considering applying!). Members also have a great many personal goals to fulfill as well, such as finishing their first or second class to Rank 50, completing their crafting class, and transitioning to true end game content in the next few weeks. There is still so much happening at NI, even if FFXIV is exactly busting at the seams with activity. Well, we are, and that's all that matters right now. If you are interested in joining a truly focused end game linkshell with a deep history of leadership and experience, then why haven't you sent in an application yet exactly? Here's your chance! => Click me; you'll regret it if you don't!
Last night Impact Gaming held it's first community-wide meeting. Many topics were covered, ranging from major community changes, Neutral Impact discussions, and the introduction to Rift to the gaming community! Members from both our FFXIV and Rift chapters attended and offered a lot of great suggestions. The discussions were solid and many additional changes will be taking place as a result of that.
Probably the biggest community news to come from the meeting is that there will be a new website up and running within the next couple of weeks. The new site will be hosted at impact-gaming.us and will be customized for our needs. This will mean that nearly everything here will change completely! The frontpage and forums will remain the same however. Most importantly, applications will be submitted differently but everything will be much easier to navigate and you will be able to access the majority of content from a single mouse-click. More information will come in the next few weeks and this site will go offline officially at the end of February.
An immediate change to come from this meeting is that we've moved to a new TeamSpeak server. The new address has not been reflected on this frontpage just yet, but can be found on our forums in the Impact Gaming News section. If you want to stop in and chat, we encourage you to hop on!
Stay tuned for a ton of updates coming in the near future. Big things are happening at Impact Gaming and we will keep everyone apprised of what's happening right here on this site until we move to the new one.
Over the past few weeks we've brought some heavy-hitters into the linkshell. Having expanded our concept of recruitment a bit, giving players more freedom to choose their comrades, the leadership has been quite pleased overall with how things have worked out.
While our roster is still stands around 30 members, we feel the quality of each member has truly increase since launch date. That's certainly a good sign for a growing linkshell, and is a trend we hope to continue. Recruitment is still going strong across the community sites, with particular emphasis on higher-ranked end-game-ready players. That campaign thus far has netted us half a dozen new players, with many more on the way in right now.
With new changes on the horizon, the outlook for the linkshell remains positive and spirits are higher than ever before (or perhaps about the same as just before launch)! That said, Neutral Impact will also be bringing some changes in the near future, based on the new content we receive this month. With potential end game activities just around the corner, the linkshell has to prepare itself to finalize important topics such as DKP system, loot distribution rules, and event scheduling. New leadership positions may open up soon too! All in good time, as they say.
Stay tuned for more big news, right here at your one-stop station for all Impact Gaming news!
With the Rift betas being so well received by the community here, we've managed to get a decent-sized crew for launch day. However seem to be at a loss for someone who wants to seriously dedicate themselves to leading this game branch. Normally it would not be our policy to recruit leaders outside of our gaming community, so for any readers, consider this an opportunity to come and join a growing community of mature and elite players who are looking to break into Rift and get some leadership experience as well.
As the Community Manager, applications must be sent directly to me, and I would prefer them in resume form, however I am flexible in this regard since this is the first time I am seeking a leader outside our circle. That said, our ideal candidate possesses at least the following qualities:

This morning's early Lodestone post has the FFXIV community roaring!
Big changes are on the horizon for SE's newest MMORPG title and we here at Impact Gaming, and Neutral Impact specifically, are really looking forward to how one of our games is going to shape up in the near future! In short the head honchos over at Square Enix have replaced a big chunk of the development team, including producer and director Tanaka with a few familiar faces, and some new ones. The new project will be headed up by a new guy, Naoki Yoshida, and other positions will be filled by veterans who've worked on the Dragon Quest series, Dark Remnant, Dirge of Cerberus, and other titles.
This has us really looking forward to what is to come. Primarily this means that the game's future is much brighter, and that is good for us indeed! Among all the good news, we're also going to get to continue playing the game for free until they've worked out all the kinks. Sadly though, PS3 release is going to be delayed. But you know what? Who cares as long as you get a solid MMOG to play in a year (or two even).
We are in your hands SE, and eagerly awaiting your next move. Surprise us!!!
